FUND RAISERS

Yard Sales

This form of fundraising was embarked on during the last administrative year specifically to raise funds for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital's Neo Natal Unit. One presentation of a sum of money has already been made. Yard Sales are conducted at the Nation Publishing Company which has generously donated free space and advertising.

Cake Sales

This is another lucrative form of fundraising and is especially useful to showcase the culinary skills of members. Donations of baked goods are usually solicited from businesses along with those produced by members. Fish cakes fried on the spot are a fast seller and more often than not are the real attraction. These sales are usually accomodated on the premises of Julie N' Supermarket, Haggatt Hall with the kind complements of management.

Health Walk

With the emphasis on exercise, this activity assists in the generation of funds through sponsorships solicited by members. For most, this is their annual exercise event and at the end of the five mile trip starting at the Garrison Savannah and continuing to Miami Beach, Oistins, they are in a state of exhaustion. A 'healthy' breakfast is usually served as it has been recognised that this is the main motivator to finishing the early Whit Monday morning trek. Lots of fun, games and food makes this one of the fun fund raisers on our calender.
