Information about Barbados

Distinguished President Maurice Clarke

A banker by profession, Distinguished President Maurice served on the board of directors for several years, broken by a period of 3 years when professional duties overseas prevented regular attendance. These overseas stints however provided him the opportunity to attend and participate in Kiwanis club projects in St Lucia, Dominica, St Maarten, Cayman Islands and the Bahamas. He is also credited with significant input into the formation of the Kiwanis Club of St John's Antigua.

As the club's first Fund Raising Chairman, he laid the foundation for some of the present fund raising events and is well known for his keen participation in most projects/activities.

The 1998-1999 term brought with it joint responsibility for hosting the District Convention which along with regular club management, provided just the challenge for Distinguished President Maurice. This was also the year when the club undertook its largest project ever. The children's playpark at Hastings Rocks now stands as a striking landmark next to one of the busiest highways on the island.

Distinguished President Maurice also presided over the club's 10th Anniversary Celebrations which culminated with the Awards Presentation and Dinner.

For only the second occasion in the club's history, a Ruby K Award for sponsoring 6 new members during the administrative year was presented to Distinguished President Maurice to add to his many achievements.

Topping off an outstanding year for the club has been the Lieutenant Governor's Award for the second quarter of the administrative year along with the Diamond Growth, Sunburst , Administrative and Service Awards and of course the crème de la crème, Distinguished Club Award.
