In the salubrious setting of the Southern Palms Beach Club, St.
Lawrence Gap, members and friends of the Kiwania Club of Barbados
South met on Satuday, September 4th, 1999, to celebrate the club's
10th Anniversary.
There is no doubt that the stability and success of our club
have largely been as a result of having retained half (13) of its
original charter membership (26), the dedication of past and president
members and our many friends. In looking back at the club's activities
over the years, we have made great strides in winning the respect
of the community which we serve. In 10 short years, we have transferred
the idea of having a club in the south, to building an institution
of committed Kiwanians and in so doing, have persons.
We have seen many changes throughout the years
and as Mr. Hudson Husbands, our guest speaker at the Awards Presentation
said, we have positioned ourselves to respond to the demands of
the new millennium. He challenged us to devise programmes to address
ills in our society because it is crying out for the type of skills
and example which we as Kiwanians have shown. He also urged us neither
to retreat from the position we have established nor stand still,
otherwise our club will die. Success breeds success and after celebrating
our success of the last 10 years with pride, there can be no doubt
that our club will be around for a long time.
